Thank you for participating in the pilot of STRAND!

STRAND: Student Research @ Notre Dame

Welcome everyone and thank you for testing out the Student Research @ Notre Dame (STRAND) site. This project is an effort to make it easier for students to locate and apply for research opportunities. If you are looking to recruit students for your research, scholarship, or creative projects this term (either for academic credit or for pay) and are interested in using the strand.esc.nd.edu site, please read on.

If something isn't working as expected, please get in touch! We expect that there may be some kinks to work out in these early rounds, so we appreciate your feedback and patience!

We are planning on running a short round on the STRAND site for positions available this fall.

The steps to posting a project are:

  1. Registration. [If this is your first time posting projects] Please log in to https://strand.esc.nd.edu using your NetID and Okta (click the "Log in" link at the top right). Then click on your name and edit your profile. By default all users are registered as students, so be sure to click the button that says “Not a Student? Change this.”
  2. Mentor Approval. After you have registered, you will receive an email to approve your role as a mentor, at which time you will be able to access all site features, including posting projects. Thank you for your patience while mentors are approved.
  3. Post Projects. Edit/create your project descriptions on the strand.esc.nd.edu site by Wednesday, August 27. If you change your mind about using the site, you can always remove your project from the site. For full instructions, see the FAQ.

Timeline:

  • Tuesday. Aug. 27 - last day to add projects / opening to student applications
  • Friday. Sep. 6  - applications close / review starts
  • Wed. Sep. 11  - review ends / offers are made

A few notes:

  • if you want more information about the strand.esc.nd.edu site, please check out the FAQ page and please get in touch with any other questions you might have. The FAQ reminds students that STRAND is not a comprehensive list of research opportunities; if a student is interested in your work but you are not listed, the student is encouraged to contact you directly.
  • students cannot overload to add research academic credits without first getting approval via an overload approval eform.

Thanks again for trying this out!
